About

About PDF Tools

An independent Android app for everyday PDF work, built so that documents never have to leave the phone they are on.

Developer and publisher

PDF Tools is an independent app, developed and published by Syed Shahbaz Hussain. There is no company behind it and no third-party publisher.

The same person maintains this website, the Google Play listing, and the support inbox, so a question sent to support reaches the developer directly.

What the app does today

These features are in the released version of PDF Tools:

  • Image to PDF. Turn photos into one polished PDF.
  • Merge PDF. Combine documents in your chosen order.
  • Import PDF. Add a document to My Files.
  • My Files. Open and manage saved PDFs.
  • Preview PDF. Open a saved document in the app to review it before sharing or deleting it.
  • Share PDF. Share documents using the apps and options available on Android.
  • Delete PDF. Remove PDF files you no longer need from your managed library.
  • Compress PDF. Reduce file size when possible.
  • Split PDF. Save every page as a separate PDF.
  • Password Protect. Create an encrypted PDF copy.
  • OCR. Extract editable text on your device.
  • Light and Dark Theme. Choose Light, Dark, or System, which follows the theme your device is already set to.
  • In-App Support. Send a question, suggestion, bug report, or feedback with an optional screenshot, and keep the request ID for reference.
  • Storage Controls. Clear your list of recent files without touching the PDFs themselves, or delete every PDF the app manages along with its history.
  • 20 Languages. The interface follows your device language across 20 locales, including right-to-left layouts.

Longer walkthroughs live on the features page, with dedicated guides for each main tool.

How your documents are handled

Your PDF files and conversion images are processed locally on your device. We do not upload them to any server.

Because the work happens on the device, the PDF features keep functioning with no connection, and the size or contents of a document are never sent anywhere. The one exception is the in-app Help and Support form: if you choose to use it, the details you type are sent so the message can be answered.

The current version requires no account and no login, shows no ads, and includes no subscriptions or in-app purchases.

What PDF Tools does not do

Stating the limits plainly is more useful than implying the app covers everything, so here is what it is not:

  • It is not available on iPhone, iPad, the web, or desktop. Android only.
  • It does not edit the text inside a PDF, fill forms, or sign documents.
  • It recognises text with OCR, but does not translate it or rebuild a searchable PDF from it.
  • It does not read a PDF that is already password-protected, so such a file cannot be merged, compressed, split, or run through OCR.
  • It does not convert PDFs into Word, Excel, or other document formats.
  • Its 20 languages are the app's interface, not your documents. It does not translate a PDF, and OCR is not localised per language.
  • It has no in-app language picker. The interface follows your device language and cannot be set separately.
  • It may fail on PDFs that are corrupted or password-protected, and very large files may not merge correctly.
  • Compression depends on the source file. A PDF that is already optimised may not get smaller.

Where to go next

The frequently asked questions cover pricing, storage, offline use, and platform availability in short answers. Practical walkthroughs are collected in the guides. If something is broken or behaving unexpectedly, the support page lists the usual causes before you write in.
